Refreshed Park Honours Local
Lorraine Taylor Reserve Playspace – Now Open!
The upgraded playspace at Lorraine Taylor Reserve in St Ives is now complete! Proudly delivered on behalf of Ku-ring-gai Council, this refreshed space honours the legacy of beloved local volunteer and St Ives community champion, Lorraine Taylor.
Our work on this project included demolition, earthworks, drainage and installation of pathways underway, together with paving and installation of the new playground. This was complemented by inclusion of soft landscapes including native plants and shade tree planting.
Designed to be fun, safe and inclusive, catering for a range of age groups and abilities, this new playspace offers a variety of features for everyone to enjoy:
• An accessible circuit path for riding bikes and trikes
• A brand new playground featuring an accessible carousel, multi-play unit with slide, swings, springer, soft-fall rubber surfacing and mulch
• Comfortable new seating areas, including reinstatement of a special memorial seat featuring a plaque dedicated to Lorraine Taylor
• Beautifully handcarved stone tables featuring a frog and bee
• Sandstone blocks and stepping stones to encourage nature-based and sensory play
• Native plants and new shade trees for a greener space
• Accessible drinking fountain and rubbish bin
Lorraine Taylor Reserve has something for everyone. Come and explore the new space!
