CBD Street Furniture Revamp!

28/06/2022

Significant progress of the street furniture asset replacement project in Sydney’s CBD and inner city has been made with the project more than halfway complete. This collaboration with QMS Media and City of Sydney Council entails the progressive removal of over 1,300 existing Council seats and litter bins over several months, undertaking the necessary civil works and the installation of new assets at the same footprint across the CBD and inner-city.

The aim of this large-scale project is to create a distinctive and elegant ensemble of street furniture that gives service and amenity to Sydney’s streets, its' parks and the public realm. Construction work is being done in stages in order to minimise disruption across the 26-square km area.

The upgraded timber stainless steel seats, the timber village bronze powder coated seats and stainless steel litter bins, designed by Sydney firm Tzannes, are a welcome upgrade, greatly improving and modernising the functionality and aesthetics of the urban streetscape.
