Dan 4 Tokyo

10/08/2021

We are tremendously proud and excited to be sponsoring Daniel Michel, a 25-year-old Australian Paralympic Athlete who is competing at the Tokyo Paralympic Games this year, and a Sutherland Shire resident!

Daniel competes in Boccia, which is a precision target ball sport similar to bowls and bocce, played by athletes with varying degrees of physical disability and caters for the most severely physically disabled para-athletes in the Paralympic movement.

Dan made his Paralympic debut at Rio 2016 and has gone on to become a 4 × World Open Champion and is the current World Number 4! The value of having Australian Boccia at the Paralympics cannot be overstated as it demonstrates that the most physically impaired members of our community have the ability to be successful through sport.

Dan says, “I truly believe I have matured a lot as a boccia player and if I can maintain a consistent level of performance, that will be good enough to bring home a medal for Australia.”

The Tokyo Paralympic Games will be held between 24 August – 5 September 2021 with the Boccia competition starting from 28 August.

We wish Daniel all the best for the Boccia competition at Tokyo!
