16/06/2021

Deerbush Park All-Abilities Playground at Prairiewood was officially opened by the Fairfield Mayor, Frank Carbone, together with Councillors, on Sunday, 13 June 2021. The opening, to welcome local residents and invite the community to enjoy the new Playground, was extensively covered by the press with reports on Sunday night by Channel 7, 9 and 10 News. Managing Director of Growth Civil Landscapes, Glenn Simpson, was proud to be present for the opening and was interviewed by Channel 9 TV Reporter, Mike Dalton.

The large scale Park, located at Fairfield Showground, comprises several areas including a playground, splash pad water play area, outdoor gym and path network. The inclusive Playground includes a Liberty Swing allowing children in wheelchairs to swing in safety, a carousel, ground-level trampoline, and public toilet, climbing ropes and net course, flying fox, learn to ride bike track, climbing net fort with slide and more!

Mayor Carbone and Councillors turned the accessible splash pad on for the first time which includes 13 unique above ground squirters and numerous ground-level bubblers - the first for a public playground in Fairfield City! The water play space will be open in warmer months and all water will be recycled and treated to the same quality as pool water.

Adults can also enjoy the park, with new outdoor gym equipment. The Park is connected to the Showground’s new path network, which provides access to all of the Showground’s facilities as well as an enjoyable exercise option for walkers, cyclists and wheelchairs.
