UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Playspace, Building and Landscape Upgrade at the Old Menangle School Site is significantly underway, being completed on behalf of Wollondilly Shire Council. The Old Menangle School Site, which originally opened its doors in 1871, covers a large central area of the Menangle Village rich in agricultural history and heritage links, with Council aiming to enhance it as a strong community hub!

Ugrades are tracking fabulously with restoration of the original heritage School Building largely complete including new roof and windows, balustrades and structural elements including stone and brick walls and front stairs, together with internal renovations consisting of new ceilings and flooring, with the new kitchen and bathroom facilities addition under construction!

The existing toilet blocks have been deconstructed, involving the recycling and reusing of original stone and bricks, with earthworks, drainage and carpark subgrade completed. Construction of the new amenities building, adjacent to the carpark, is also making headway with the utilities, concrete slab and brick walls for the new amenities building now installed. This facility will cater to events held at the Park and provide a publicly accessible amenities building for Menangle Village. 

Elements of the new playground including the carousel, swings, climbing tower and nature play items, along with concrete laid for the muiltipurpose court, have been constructed and installed. Raised garden beds and picnic tables have been built, concrete works carried out, and a new accessible footpath network has also been created providing access to the new amenities and Old School buildings. In addition, the Park’s perimeter fence along the rail corridor has been erected.

Future works will include a community outdoor kitchen with BBQ and shelter facilities, completion of the 30 parking spaces plus 1 accessible parking space carpark, seating and lighting, together with softscapes and the community veggie gardens.
